Final Standings & Brackets

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Senior Zack Giesen won his first Pac-10 title at 197 pounds and the Stanford wrestling team finished fourth (114.0) at the 2011 Pac-10 Championships at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Ore.

The fourth-place team finish is the highest for the Cardinal since 2008 when the team took second. Besides the 2008 runner-up finish, the fourth place is the highest for Stanford since 1986.

Overall, Stanford placed seven of its 10 wrestlers in the top-4, including junior Nick Amuchastegui's runner-up finish at 174 pounds. The 2010 champion at 165 pounds, Amuchastegui has taken second at the conference championships for the second time (2009; 165 pounds).

Joining Giesen as an automatic qualifier for the 2011 NCAA Championships next month is Amuchastegui, senior Justin Paulsen (133 pounds) and sophomore Ryan Mango (125 pounds). All four are returning NCAA qualifiers from 2010.

Paulsen placed third at 133 pounds with a 3-1 record. All three of his wins were major decisions.

Four Cardinal wrestlers took fourth Sunday - Mango, redshirt sophomore Timmy Boone (149 pounds), redshirt freshman Kyle Meyer (157 pounds), senior Lucas Espericueta (165 pounds).

Boise State claimed the 2011 Pac-10 Championship with 147.0 points and four individual title winners. Last year's champion, Oregon State, was the runner-up with 137.5 points, while Arizona State finished ahead of the Cardinal with 117.0 points. Both the Beavers and Sun Devils each had two individual champions.

The NCAA will announce the 48 at-large qualifiers on March 9. The 2011 NCAA Championships will be held Thursday-Saturday, Mar. 17-19 in Philadelphia, Pa.
