Stanford Wrestlers Fall to Fresno State, 19-16

FRESNO, Calif. - Despite holding a 16-7 lead at one point, Cardinal wrestling fell by the narrow margin of, 19-16, Friday night at North Gym in Fresno.

Stanford was forced to forfeit the match in the heavyweight class which tipped the final balance to Fresno State. The win improves Fresno to 6-6 and Stanford to 2-10 on the season

After Fresno State won the 118 class to start things off, Stanford took the next four classes and built a 13-4 team advantage. Late in the meet, Jeff Grant rallied to beat Michael Mellor 3-10 giving the Cardinal its best lead of the night, 16-7.

Of note: In the 134 weight class, Jason Talbot nabbed a major decision over Fresno's Ryan McInerney, 14-4. It was the Cardinals only major of the night.
