STANFORD, Calif. - Sophomore driver Sage Wright was named the MPSF Co-Player of the Week Monday for the second time this season. Wright, a native of Santa Barbara, Calif., scored a pair of goals, including the equalizer with just 36 seconds remaining in regulation, in No. 4 Stanford's 10-9 sudden-victory win over No. 1 California last Friday night.

Wright shared this week's honor with Pepperdine's Travis Stachowski.

After the Golden Bears had gone ahead 8-7 late in the fourth period at Avery Stadium, the Cardinal called a timeout with 51 seconds left, setting up what was likely to be its final chance to tie the game. With 36 seconds remaining, Wright's shot got past California goalie Mark Sheredy, knotting things up at 8-8 and sending the game into overtime, where the Cardinal eventually prevailed.

On the season, Wright leads the Cardinal with 33 goals and has notched 10 multi-goal games. His previous player of the week honor came on Oct. 1.

The Cardinal, which finished the regular season with a 16-6 (5-3 MPSF) mark, earned the third seed in this weekend's MPSF Tournament in Berkeley. Stanford will face sixth-seeded Pepperdine Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in first-round action.
