Four members of Stanford's 2002 NCAA Championship team were selected to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Academic All-Conference team, announced MPSF Commissioner Al Beaird. 32 athletes from eight member schools were honored, including Stanford's Nick Ellis, Mike Derse, Greg Crum and Matt Moser.
Senior Nick Ellis (Santa Ana, CA/Foothill) finished his collegiate career in 2002 by helping the Cardinal to its second consecutive NCAA title. Ellis ranks third in all-time school history with 714 saves in his career. He graduated with a degree in Science, Technology and Society and will pursue graduate school in the fall.
Mike Derse (Ventura, CA/Ventura) posted a career-high 50 goals this season during his junior season on The Farm. Derse is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Sophomores Greg Crum (San Pedro, CA/Chadwick) and Matt Moser (Sacramento, CA/El Camino) tabbed 19 and 11 goals for the Cardinal as they earned significant playing time this season. Crum is working towards a degree in Economics while Moser is pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering.
