Stanford Wins Three of Four at Southern California Tournament

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Stanford Cardinal men's water polo team won three of four matches at the prestigious Southern California Tournament, hosted by USC. Following are the Stanford results.

September 20 at Southern California Tournament

Stanford 9, Claremont 2

After Claremont tied the game at 1-1 with 40 seconds into the first quarter, Stanford ran off seven straight goals and the Stags didn't score again untl 1:44 left in the game.

Pepperdine 8, Stanford 3

Jeremy Pope scored Pepperdine's first two goals as the Waves jumped out to a 4-0 lead, and the play of Waves goalie Merrill Moses (16 saves) made the lead standup. Stanford lost to Pepperdine for the second straight day.

A 7-1 run in the second half proved to the difference as Stanford scored the win.
