Top-ranked Pepperdine Water Polo Team defeats Third-ranked Stanford
Stanford, Calif. - Alan Herrmann scored the game winning goal with six seconds to play to lift top-ranked Pepperdine to a 9-8 victory over third-ranked Stanford in a Mount Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) water polo game on Sunday at deGuerre Pool.
Stanford had taken the lead at 8-7 with 2:45 to play on a goal by Andy Walburger. However, the Waves tied the game with 35 seconds to play on Todd King's goal.
The game was tied five times.
Brian Heifferon and Nathan Osborn each scored two points for Stanford.
Chris Aguilera collected eleven saves in goal for Stanford, while Merrill Moses collected eight for Pepperdine.
The win raised Pepperdine's season record to 19-1. Stanford fell to 13-5.
