No. 3 Stanford Defeats Two-Time Defending NCAA Champion UCLA
STANFORD, Calif. - Brian Heifferon tallied three goals to lift third-ranked Stanford to a 8-7 victory over fifth-ranked UCLA in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation water polo match on Saturday at deGuerre Pool.
David Hay added two goals, including the game winner with 4:57 to play.
Sam Grayeli and Adam Wright each scored two goals for the Bruins.
Stanford raised its record to 13-4 overall and 4-1 in the conference. UCLA fell to 10-8 overall and 3-3 in the MPSF.
The Cardinal faces top-ranked Pepperdine on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at deGuerre Pool.
