How Teams QualifiedThree teams (Stanford, Princeton and Loyola Marymount) received an automatic invitation by winning their respective conference championships (MPSF, CWPA, WWPA). UCLA was chosen on an at-large basis after finishing second behind Stanford in the MPSF.
Stanford gained the automatic MPSF berth by coming out on top from an eight-team tournament at the Avery Aquatic Center on the Stanford campus November 26-28.
Princeton emerged as the CWPA Champion and the best of 18 squads from the East at an eight-team tournament that was held at Bucknell University from November 13-14.
Loyola Marymount will represent the 15-school WWPA after winning an eight-team championship tournament contested at UC Davis from November 18-20.- At-Large Invitation ... UCLA
