How Teams Qualify
Three teams will receive an automatic invitation by winning their respective conference championships. The fourth team will be chosen on an at-large basis.
  • Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) ... USC
The nine MPSF schools, all from the West, will battle it out at Belmont Plaza Pool in Long Beach, November 28-30.
  • Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) ... Navy
The CWPA Champion will have to emerge at the top of the 18 teams from the East. Their eight-team tournament will be held at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, November 15 & 16.
  • Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) ... Loyola Marymount
The WWPA, comprised of 15 schools, will conduct an eight-team championship tournament in Redland, California, November 21 & 22.
  • At-Large Team ... Stanford
The remaining team will be selected without geographical restrictions. The nation's top team that does not win a berth as conference champion will earn a shot at the NCAA title on November 30, 2003.
