Sophomore Kawika Shoji was named an AVCA All-American on Monday, as announced by the AVCA. Shoji was named to the second-team after leading the Cardinal to a 17-11 record, a 14-game turnaround from the 2007 season. The sophomore from Honolulu, Hawai'I led the Cardinal with 990 assists and averaged 10.31 a game. A 2008 MPSF Second-Team honoree, Shoji is a first-time AVCA All-American. >> Read More
When 2008 began, Stanford men's volleyball preached improvement and consistent play. The team knew that 2008 was going to be different than 2007, and with 17 victories at season's end, the team responded in a big way and set the tone for the program in the future. Evan Romero is currently an opposite from Miami Lakes, Fl. and has started all 27 matches this season for the Cardinal. He leads the squad with 418 kills and has been a major factor in Stanford's big turnaround campaign in 2008. Romero has also tallied 146 digs on the season and 49 blocks. >> Read More
Stanford men's volleyball enters this postseason this weekend after earning the sixth-seed in the MPSF tournament and earns a trip to Northridge to face third-seed Cal State Northridge. Northridge finished their season with a 23-5 overall record and an 18-4 record within the MPSF competition. In completing their season with a 17-10 record, the Cardinal improved by 14 games on their win total from the 2007 season.
