STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford men's volleyball team will play an intrasquad Cardinal and White scrimmage Saturday at 10 a.m. at Burnham Pavilion, and the public is invited.

Stanford is 8-1 during the fall season, reaching the final of the USC event and winning the Long Beach State Tournament last weekend with a 4-0 record. Stanford beat Long Beach State, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and Cal Baptist.

"We went down there wanting to see improvement from our team," Stanford coach John Kosty said. "That's what we got.

"I thought we played well most of the time, but we also took away things that we understand we need to improve on. We're 8-1. We're excited about that. But we also understand we have a long way to go."

The Cardinal leaves for Hawaii on Sunday to compete in its final fall event, which begins Wednesday at the University of Hawai'i.

Stanford's regular season opens Jan. 15 against Hawai'i at Maples Pavilion.
