Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford University men's volleyball team will host Cal Poly in its final competition of the fall season this Wednesday at 7:00 pm (PT) in Maples Pavilion.

The Cardinal has played well in the fall, capturing the Cal Invitational by posting a 10-1 record, and defeating the Canadian Master's team, 3-0. With the graduation of All-American Curt Toppel, William Strickland, William Curtis and Paul Bocage, the Cardinal will rely on a heavily untested, but talented group of players in 2004. Headlining the list of returners is junior setter Kevin Hansen who was selected All-MPSF Honorable Mention in 2003. Sophomore middle blocker Chris Ahlfeldt and junior outside hitter David Vogel have stepped up and have played well for the Cardinal during the fall.

Stanford will officially begin its season on January 6, 2004 when the Cardinal travels to UC Santa Cruz to face the Banana Slugs in a 7:00 pm (PT) match.
