STANFORD, Calif. -
The Stanford men's volleyball team will be unveiled for the 2011-12 academic year when the Cardinal takes part in a public intrasquad scrimmage on Friday at Burnham Pavilion.
The annual Cardinal & White Scrimmage, which will last from 4-6 p.m. will be the first opportunity to officially take the floor together as a team and the first opportunity to see the freshmen class of middle blockers Matt Aiello (San Jose, Calif.), Spencer Haly (Newport Beach, Calif.), and Sean Kemper (Encinitas, Calif.). Practice can't officially begin until Oct. 15, though the Cardinal will be opening its fall season that weekend at the USC tournament, which also includes USC, UCLA, Pacific, Cal State Northridge, Lewis, and Cal Baptist.
The fall schedule features three tournaments as well as a match against visiting Pepperdine.
Here is the complete fall schedule:
Sept. 30: Cardinal & White Scrimmage, at Burnham Pavilion, 4 p.m.
Oct. 14-15: at USC Fall Tournament
Oct. 22: at Long Beach State Tournament
Nov. 5: at Clovis Tournament
Nov. 12: vs. Pepperdine, at Burnham Pavilion
Stanford returns first-team All-Americans Brad Lawson and Erik Shoji, and six of its seven starters, from its 19-9 team that finished with a No. 7 AVCA ranking last season.
