STANFORD, Calif. - Six members of Stanford's men's volleyball team have been named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic team, including all three All-Americas, seniors Evan Barry, Brad Lawson, and Erik Shoji.

No other team in the 12-member MPSF has more than Stanford's number, though Pacific and UC San Diego matched the Cardinal. In all, 17 of Stanford's 19 players had cumulative grade-point averages of 3.0 or higher, not including fifth-year senior Charley Henrikson, who graduated last year and earned his master's during this season.

The player with the highest GPA was senior Jake Vandermeer, with a 4.13, though he did not have enough playing time to qualify for the MPSF All-Academic list. The team's lowest GPA was 2.94, meaning every player has a cumulative GPA of 2.9 or higher.

Players must be at least a sophomore academically, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and play in at 50 percent of the team's competition to make the All-Academic team.

The honor is the third for seniors Gus Ellis, Lawson, and Shoji. It is the second for Barry and junior Jake Kneller, and the first for Steven Irvin, a sophomore.

Stanford finished 22-7 overall and was second in the MPSF with a 17-5 record. The Cardinal was ranked No. 3 in the nation.
