Stanford, Calif. - Stanford Men's Volleyball (4-12, 2-8 MPSF) will host two ranked teams this weekend on The Farm. On Friday night, Stanford will host No. 13 USC (7-8, 4-6 MPSF) in Maples Pavilion at 7 p.m. Saturday night the action will move into Burnham Pavilion, as the Cardinal battles No. 3 Pepperdine (8-3, 8-3 MPSF), also at 7 p.m.
Stanford is currently led by senior opposite Ben Reddy, who ranks in the National Statistics Leaders at No. 6 with kills per game (4.85), No. 7 for points (5.46 per game), and No. 10 for aces (22). Reddy also joins the MPSF ranks in the same categories, along with senior outside hitter William Clayton and junior libero Brian Lindberg. Clayton ranks No. 6 in the conference with 12 aces and Lindberg is averaging 2.13 digs per game, ranking him No. 6 in the MPSF. As a team, Stanford ranks at No. 3 in the MPSF in aces, with 45 aces in 35 games played.
USC enters Friday's match after dropping four matches, two to No. 1 BYU, and most recently to No. 5 CS Northridge and then No. 11 UC Santa Barbara. The Trojans are led by Brazilian outside hitter Joao Grangeiro who is first on the squad with aces (12), and second for the Trojans in kills (194) and digs (109).
Pepperdine enters the weekend after two tough five-game battles last week in MPSF action. The Waves lost to then No. 11 UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday night and then rebounded with a win Saturday night over No. 5 CS Northridge. Freshman outside hitter Paul Carroll had 22 kills (.462) for Pepperdine in their loss to UCSB, while junior middle blocker John Parfitt notched a career-high 27 kills (.457) in the win over CS Northridge.
