STANFORD, Calif. - Brad Lawson, a sophomore outside hitter from Honolulu, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week for his role in leading Stanford to home victories over No. 3 UCLA and defending NCAA champion UC Irvine last weekend.

The 6-foot-7 Lawson had 15 kills, five digs and two assists, with a .400 hitting percentage in a Friday sweep of UCLA, and followed with 22 kills (.372), nine digs, and three blocks in a four-set triumph over UCI on Saturday.

Lawson combined for 37 kills and a .384 hitting percentage as Stanford climbed into sole possession of second place in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and to a No. 2 national ranking.

For the season, Lawson leads the MPSF in service aces (16, 0.46 per game), and is fourth in kills (4.91 pg) and points (5.69 pg).

Lawson and the Cardinal travel to No. 4 Pepperdine on Friday and No. 3 USC on Saturday for another pair of important MPSF matches.
