SAN DIEGO - The defending national champion and seventh-ranked Stanford men's volleyball team, bolstered by a season-high .496 hitting percentage, defeated San Diego State 3-0 (17-15, 15-10, 15-7) to capture the season series between the two schools.

The Cardinal won the previous meeting with the Aztecs 3-2 on The Farm. With the win, Stanford improved to 10-3 overall and 9-3 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. San Diego State dropped to 4-10 overall and 4-9 in the conference.

Senior swing hitter Devin Poolman (Goleta, CA/Dos Pueblos HS) hit a career-high (min. 20 attacks) .704 (20-1-27) while pitching in four service aces and four blocks. Overall, three Cardinal hit better than .600 and the team hit no less than .463 in any of the three games. Sophomore outside hitter Andy Witt (Santa Ynez, CA/Santa Ynez HS) posted a team-high 21 kills.
