Men's Volleyball Loses for the First Time




Feb. 20, 1998

STANFORD, Calif. - The fifth-ranked Stanford men's volleyball team suffered its first defeat of the 1998 season with a 17-15, 11-15, 15-9, 15-4 loss to second-ranked Pepperdine in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match Friday night at Maples Pavilion.

George Roumain tallied 21 kills and Scott Wong added 19 to lead Pepperdine.

Andy Witt led Stanford with 26 kills, followed by Patrick Klein with 21, and Tad Hoffman with 17.

Pepperdine raised its season record to 8-1 overall and 7-1 in the MPSF.

Stanford fell to 7-1 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

The Cardinal hosts Loyola Marymount on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Maples Pavilion.
