Men's Volleyball Defeats Cal State Northridge

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The sixth-ranked Stanford men's volleyball team defeated Cal State Northridge 3-1 (15-8, 15-3, 9-15, 15-9) to improve to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the Moutnain Pacific Sports Federation. The victory also extended Stanford win streak to 24 matches.

Sophomore outside hitter Andy Witt (Santa Ynez, CA/Santa Ynez HS) led four Cardinal in double-digit kills with 32 while senior middle blocker Keenan Whitehurst (Fresno, CA/San Joaquin Memorial HS), who entered this weekend's matches ranked third in the nation in hitting percentage, posted a team-high .481 (15-2-27). Whitehurst also recorded a season-high 11 blocks. Witt's 32 kills tied his season-high output, equaling his efforts against Ohio State and Pacific. He also established a new season-high in digs with a match-high 15. The Matadors (3-6, 1-6 MPSF) also boasted four players with double-figure kills, led by Chad Strickland's 20.

Stanford returns home to Burnham Pavilion on Friday, Febraury 20 when it hosts No. 2 Pepperdine at 7:00 p.m.
