Stanford Men's Volleyball Falls To Long Beach State, 3-2

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford men's volleyball team took No. 1 seeded Long Beach State to five games before falling to the 49ers in the first round of the UCSB/Elephant Bar Collegiate Invitational. Game scores for match were 30-27, 19-30, 18-30, 31-29, 13-15.

The Cardinal will face either the host Gauchos or Cal State Northridge in the first round of the consolation bracket on Saturday morning at 10:00 am (PT). The time of Stanford's second game on Saturday, third in the tournament, will be determined by the outcome of the morning's contest.

The Cardinal received strong play from junior outside hitter David Vogel, who registered a career-high 19 kills to go along with 10 digs. Sophomore Ben Reddy continued his strong play, adding a career-high 13 kills. Sophomore middle blocker Chris Ahlfeldt tallied 10 kills, while recording one solo block and three block assists. Redshirt junior Kevin Hansen dished out 56 assists, while sophomore libero Jeremy Jacobs collected a career-high 12 digs.
