Max Halvorson, a 2011 Stanford graduate and a member of the Cardinal's 2010 national championship team, is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach.

Halvorson, a native of Honolulu, Hawaii, is coaching while working toward his master's in psychology.

Halvorson joined the Cardinal as a walk-on and played four seasons as part of the winningest class in program history. Stanford won 81 matches during his collegiate career and had four consecutive top-four Mountain Pacific Sports Federation finishes, the only school to accomplish the feat during that span.

Before coming to Stanford, Halvorson lettered two years each in volleyball and basketball at Punahou School in Honolulu and was named to the Star-Bulletin all-state volleyball first team in 2007. Halvorson teamed with future Stanford teammates Spencer McLachlin and Erik Shoji to win a pair of Hawaii state Division I championships for the Buffanblu.
