Began the season as the team's starting setter, posting a career-high 97 assists in a victory over No. 14 UC Santa Barbara on Feb. 13 ... Finished with 688 assists ... Reached the 70-assist plateau five times ... Recorded career-highs in kills (37), block assists (32), service aces (15) and digs (66) ... Posted 89 assists, seven kills, 10 digs and seven blocks in a five-game loss to No. 8 Hawaii on Jan. 29 ... As a starter, ranked fourth in the MPSF in assists per game, averaging 17.32.
As a Freshman in 1998:
Appeared in 11 matches, averaging 12.16 assists and 1.28 digs per game ... Registered 94 assists, 11 digs, six kills and five blocks in a Apr. 1 victory over BYU .. Added 56 assists vs. Long Beach State on Apr. 3.
Member of the 1997 US. Junior National Team ... Helped lead the team to a fifth-place finish at the 1996 Junior Olympics en route to third team All-America honors ... In 1995, played for the O'Neill Surf club team which won the Berkeley Invitational and finished ninth at the Junior Olympics ... Garnered third team All-America honors for his 1995 performance.

A four-time All-American at Los Gatos High School ... In 1997, led the team to a perfect 20-0 mark and the Central Coast Section Championship ... Named league and CCS Player of the Year ... As a junior, propelled squad to a 27-1 mark and the Western Catholic League championship en route to a first-team All-WCL selection ... High school did not sponsor a volleyball team his freshman and sophomore years ... Also an accomplished basketball player, earning a Div. III All-State Team selection in 1997 ... Led Los Gatos to the league basketball championship ... Was a first team All-SCVAL performer all three years and was named League MVP in 1996 ... Played club volleyball for Santa Cruz Nike with former Stanford teammate Dan Zhang ... Helped lead the team to the silver medal at the 1997 Junior Nationals, earning All-America status along the way ... Team lost to fellow Cardinal Josh Luken's Seaside club in the title match ... Squad also placed second and third at the Berkeley and SoCal Invitationals, respectively.
