Stanford Netters Reach Third Round at All-American Tourney

AUSTIN, Texas - All three Stanford men's tennis players have advanced to the third round of the ITA Reebok All-American Tournament, hosted by the University of Texas.

In the first round, fourth seed Bob Bryan defeated Martin Sjoqvoist of Mississippi 7-5, 6-0. In his second match today, he overcame a 6-2, 5-1 deficit to defeat Simon LaRose of Mississippi State 2-6, 7-6, 6-2. Qualifier Mike Bryan soared through his first match and then upset fifth seed Matthieu Ballay of Mississippi State 6-1, 6-0. Freshman Alex Kim also survived both singles matches today.

The Cardinal has just one doubles team in the tournament, Bob and Mike Bryan. The twins are seeded fourth and won their first round match 6-0, 6-1 over Chris James and Derek Myers of Purdue.

One round of singles and two rounds of doubles will be played tomorrow. The tournament concludes on Sunday.
