Stanford Players Advance All-American Qualifying Tournament

AUSTIN, Texas - Two members of the Stanford men's tennis team advanced through the first round of qualifying at the ITA Reebok All-American Tennis Tournament, hosted by the University of Texas.

Sophomore Mike Bryan and freshman Alex Kim, survived the first round, while sophomore Geoff Abrams lost. Bryan defeated Alex Aybar of Tyler Junior College, 6-2, 6-2 and Kim defeated Gareth Williams of Tulsa, 6-0, 6-1. Sebastian Lani of Mississippi defeated Abrams 7-5, 6-1.

Qualifying concludes tomorrow with the main draw of 64 starting play on Thursday. Sophomore Bob Bryan, twin brother of Mike Bryan, received an automatic berth into the singles main draw. The Bryans will compete as a doubles team at the tournament, the only doubles team from Stanford.
