LOUISVILLE, Ky. - No. 1 Stanford (10-0) blanked No. 15 (4-1) Illinois in the championship final of the 1998 USTA/ITA National Team Indoors Sunday.

Stanford claimed the doubles point at No. 2 and No. 3 with Stanford's Bryan brothers, Mike and Bob, defeating Illinois' Blain/Sontag 8-6 and Stanford's Abrams/Hoevler beating Teply/Snyder 8-5, respectively.

In singles action, Stanford's Mike Bryan defeated Illinois' Oliver Freelove 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 and Stanford's Geoff Abrams beat Illinois' Matt Snyder 6-1, 6-3. The No. 2 and No. 4 spots finished at the same time to clinch the match 5-0.
