WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Stanford breaststroker John Criste was named the Pac-10 Conference's Male Swimmer of the month for November after winning the tri-distance breaststroke against Cal and both breaststrokes at the Arena Invite.
In Long Beach to close out the month, the senior captain twice set the meet record in the 100 breast, finishing with a mark of 53.37, the nation’s fastest time. His time in the 200 breast (1:57.60) was the third-fastest time in the nation. Saugus, Calif. native also won the 100 and 200-yard events against the Golden Bears en route to the win in the tri-distance meet.
The seven-time All-American entered his final season No. 1 all-time at Stanford in the 100 breast (51.75) and third all-time in the 200 breast (1:52.98).
With the honor, Stanford has nine monthy honors issued by the Pac-10, continuing a conference record.
Stanford is next in action in the New Year's when it, along with the women's team, hosts Pacific on January 8 at the Avery Aquatics Center.
