In the Bayou during the team's annual training camp, six freshmen won events over Centenary. This will be the first diving event for the Stanford men, with Ipsen slated to compete.

With the return of heavy point-scorer David Mosko for his senior season, the Cardinal men also feature Bollier, a two-time NCAA runner-up in 2011, one of America's top long distance swimmers in Chad La Tourette and one of Canada's top back strokers, Matthew Swanston.

Stanford Swimming and Diving will also be represented at the two-week Pan American Games in Mexico starting on Saturday. Graduate Cassidy Krug and freshman Kristian Ipsen will compete in diving starting on October 26, while graduates Julia Smit, Elaine Breeden and Eugene Godsoe will swim for the U.S. Starting on Saturday.

The Stanford women (1-0) have competed in one event so far this season, defeating San Jose State 167-125 with sophomore swimmer Andie Taylor and diver Stephanie Phipps, along with freshman swimmer Maddy Schaefer each winning two events.

The Stanford women feature All-American senior sprinters Betsy Webb and Sam Woodward, along with Pac-10 Freshman of the Year Maya DiRado.

The Haines Invitational is named after former coach George Haines, the late coach of the Cardinal from 1981 to 1988 who won two Pac-10 titles and the 1983 NCAA title. In his seven years at The Farm, Haines' teams never finished lower than third at the NCAA meet.
