Stanford All-American Paul Kornfeld won his second breaststroke of the English Grand Prix, winning the 50 breaststroke with a personal-best 26.89 in the Finals in West Yorkshire. At the U.S. Open Championships, Cardinal Chad La Tourette came away with a gold medal in the 800 freestyle, setting a course record with 7:47.27. His time was just three hundredths short of his career-best (7:47.24).

Kornfeld, who also won the 100 breaststroke at this week’s event, was a four-time All-American in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes while on The Farm. He is also a two-time NCAA Champion in the breaststroke.

Also in England, incoming freshman Matthew Swanston was 10th in the Finals of the 100 backstroke.

Over on the final day of the U.S. Open Championships just outside of Seattle, Bobby Bollier finished off the championship with a sixth place showing in the “B” Final (2:03.42), while Curtis Lovelace was eighth (2:03.61).

The Grand Prix meanwhile finishes off on Sunday.
