In the final day of the Pac-10 Men's and Women's Diving Championships, hosted by UCLA at Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center, USC freshman Michael Hilde won the men's platform event. For the Cardinal, freshman Kevin McLean advanced to the finals.
McLean posted a prelim score of 418.00 then turned in a 411.15 in the finals to place seventh overall. Stanford's Jesse Fonner had a score of 409.00 in the prelims to take ninth.
On men's platform, the USC Trojans placed first and second. Freshman Michael Hilde won the event, scoring 513.00. Trojan junior Ray Vincent was second (470.50) and Cal junior Louie Gagnet was third (469.50). All three divers are products of the Mission Viejo Nadadores program and grew up training and competing alongside each other.
