Joining the Cardinal program in the summer of 2012, Scott Armstrong is in his first season as assistant coach at Stanford. Armstrong came to Stanford with a breadth of experience at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club and with USA Swimming.

Armstrong was at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club beginning in 2003 where he worked with Olympic coaches Murray Stephens, Bob Bowman and Paul Yetter. Armstrong helped implement the training plan for the Senior Elite group that included Olympians Michael Phelps and Katie Hoff.

Armstrong was named associate head coach at the NBAC and for the two seasons in which the club was USA Swimming's No. 1 ranked team in Club Excellence, a first for the program.

In addition to his time at the NBAC, Armstrong was also a USA National Junior Team coach and the head coach of the USA Women's Team that won the 2010 Junior Pan Pacific title.

Armstrong is a 2003 graduate of Johns Hopkins University where he was an 18-time All-American swimmer. Armstrong was named team captain in 2003 and helped Johns Hopkins to NCAA D-III runner-up finishes in both 2002 and 2003.

Armstrong is also the former NCAA D-III record holder in the 1,650 freestyle.

Following his time as a student-athlete, Armstrong was an assistant coach at Johns Hopkins for two seasons.
