Top-Ranked Stanford Cruises to Victory Over UC Santa Barbara
STANFORD, CA --- Junior Sabir Muhammad finished first in two individual events and led his relay team to victory as Stanford (7-1) defeated UCSB on Saturday afternoon at deGuerre Pool.
The Cardinal rebounded from Friday's loss to No. 7 USC by taking an early lead against UCSB. After just three events, the Cardinal led 44-7, as Stanford swimmers swept the top finishes in the 200 medley relay, 1000 freestyle and 200 freestyle.
Muhammad, Tom Wilkins, Jed Crowe and Scott Claypool grabbed the victory in the 200 medley relay (1:31.83), before Muhammad won the 100 butterfly (48.35) and the 100 backstroke (50.90).
The Cardinal visit UC Berkeley on February 22 at 1 pm.
