STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford University has been selected as the host school for Friday's NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament Quarterfinal match between the Cardinal (18-1-1) and the Saint Louis Billikens (18-1-0), as announced Sunday evening.

The Cardinal, who are undefeated at Maloney Field this season and have posted a 40-3-4 mark at the facility in 1997, will be attempting to advance to the Men's College Cup in Columbus, Ohio, when they battle Saint Louis on Friday at 7 p.m.

Stanford, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, downed Portland 3-1 last Friday in the third round. The Cardinal had edged Santa Clara 3-1 the previous week in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. Stanford is looking to make the Final Four for the first time since the 1998 season, when it reached the NCAA Championship game.

Saint Louis is the tournament's No. 6 seed and is coming off a 3-0 shutout of Loyola (Md.) in yesterday's third round match. The Billikens have played their first two matches of the postseason at home, and defeated the University of Missouri-Kansas City 2-1 in the second round after receiving a first-round bye.

The two schools last met during the 1999 season in the Cal Adidas Legacy Classic in Berkeley, Calif. on Nov. 7. Saint Louis recorded a 2-0 victory on the day in the final match of the regular season for the Cardinal.
