WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Stanford senior defender Cameron Lamming was named Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 12-18, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today.

The San Juan Capistrano, Calif., native scored the game winner off a header in the Cardinal's 1-0 victory over San Diego State on Sunday. Lamming and the Stanford defense allowed just one goal in two matches over the weekend, with the lone goal coming in the Cardinal's 2-1 upset of No. 11 and conference co-leader UCLA.

Lamming has been a crucial part of the Stanford defense, playing every minute of the weekend at right back. The backfield has been the catalyst for the Cardinal's turnaround, winning seven of nine after starting the season 0-4. Lamming began the year in the central midfield, but his move to right back has helped shore up the defense.

This is Lamming's second career weekly honor and Stanford's 13th all-time Pac-10 Player of the Week. He also earned a Player of the Week award last season after a golden goal to beat USF.

With the two wins over the weekend, Stanford improved to 7-6-0 overall, 3-2-0 in the Pac-10 and is within one game of the Conference lead. The Cardinal have rematches with UCLA and San Diego State this week.

Stanford plays the Bruins on Friday and the Aztecs on Sunday.

Also Nominated: Travis Sanchez, Oregon State; Kelyn Rowe, UCLA; Brent Richards, Washington.
