STANFORD, Calif. -- Sophomore forward Zach Batteer was named Pac-12 Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 1-7, the Conference announced today. Batteer was honored after his two-goal performance in a win over California.
Batteer came off the bench in last Thursday's match at Cagan Stadium to score twice in the 2-0 Stanford victory. Batteer initial goal came with just 18 seconds left in the first half on a cross from Dersu Abolfathi.
In the second half, Batteer put the game away in the 78th minute when he converted a cross from Bobby Edwards. Both of the goals were scored with his head.
Batteer has now totaled three goals in his past two games as he also scored in Stanford's 2-0 win over San Diego State.
Stanford heads out on the road for the first time in Pac-12 play this weekend. The Cardinal face Oregon State on Friday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. and Washington on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 12 p.m. Sunday's game will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Networks.
