Cardinal Receive Academic All-America Honors
Stanford Places Two on the First Team
Stanford University men's soccer players Dan Wytock and Eric Vandevelde were
named first team Academic All-Americans by the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA).
Wytock, a senior defender from San Jose, Calif. (Bellarmine Prep),
boasts a cumulative 3.42 GPA while majoring in computer science. Wytock, the
1997 team co-captain, started all 20 games for the Cardinal, which advanced to
the NCAA Tournament and finished the season ranked 15th in the nation.
Vandevelde, a junior midfielder from La Canada, Calif. (Loyola HS), boasts a
cumulative 3.6, also majoring in computer science. Vandevelde started in 19
games for the Cardinal and ranked fourth on the squad with nine points on three
goals and three assists.
