Stanford's Gaw Named to Soccer America's "Team-Of-The-Week"
Stanford University men's soccer player Shan Gaw, a junior midfielder from
Olympia, Wash. (Capital HS), was named to Soccer America's "Team-of-the-Week"
for his efforts in the fourth-ranked Cardinal's 3-1 victory over California
this past week. With the game tied 1-1 just before the half, Gaw took a pass
off the corner, dribbled around a defender near the right goal line and fired a
shot into the upper corner of the far post for what proved to be the
game-winner. The goal, Gaw's first of the season, swayed the momentum to the
Cardinal and helped deliver Stanford (11-0-2) to its first-ever MPSF Mountain
Division title. Gaw's honor by Soccer America was the third such given to a
Stanford player this season, joining junior defender Jamie Clark, who has made
the prestigious team twice (Sept. 21 and Oct. 14). Below is a list of the
