Stanford Concludes Preseason with Victory
Stanford, CA - The Stanford University men's soccer team, in its final
tune-up for the regular season, defeated visiting Westmont College 2-1 at New
Maloney Field.
Stanford freshman forward Corey Woolfolk opened the scoring with the lone goal
of the first half, finding the back of the net at 36:10. The Cardinal defense
limited the Warriors to just two shots on goal in the half. Sophomore
midfielder T. K. Inbody, assisted by junior forward Adam Siegman, put the
Cardinal up 2-0 with a goal midway through the second half. Westmont responded
three minutes later on a penalty kick by senior midfielder Ben Hook to draw the
Warriors within one, but would be unable to get another shot on goal.
Stanford will open the regular season on Tuesday, September 2, when they travel
to area rival San Jose State.
