Stanford placed eight members on the 2007 College Gymnastics Association (CGA) Academic All-American team, as announced by Cliff Gauthier of the CGA Academic All-American Committee. Stanford graduates Peter Derman (Dallas, TX) and Brice Rolston (Mandeville, LA) earned first team designation for the fourth time in their Stanford careers. Derman led the entire nation last year, earning a 4.059 GPA. Rolston was ranked tenth nationally, earning a 3.867 GPA last year.
All members of the Academic All-American first team were honored for attaining a GPA of at least 3.5 and members of the second team were honored for achieving a GPA between 3.2 and 3.49.
Graduates Dylan Carney (Dartmouth, MA) and Josh Goldman (San Antonio, TX) were also named to the list of Academic All-Americans after earning 4.00 and 3.64 GPAs, respectively, last quarter. Senior Eli Alcaraz (Hacienda Heights, CA) and sophomore Eric Hergenrader (Plano, TX) earned first team honors after achieving GPAs of 3.683 and 3.623, respectively. Sophomore Lucas Hughes (Golden, CO) rounded out Stanford's representation on the first team by earning a 3.519 GPA.
Cardinal senior Chris Harper (Plano, TX) earned second team All-Academic honors after earning a GPA of 3.304. In the final team rankings, Stanford finished second to Ohio State with a 3.360 team GPA.
