Stanford, Calif. - Cardinal sophomore Sho Nakamori earned a spot at the USA Gymnastics Championships in Indianapolis this August after posting a sixth-place finish at the Senior Men's Qualifier in Colorado Springs last Friday. Nakamori will join current U.S. National Team member and fellow Stanford sophomore David Sender for the 2005 VISA Championships on August 10-13, as both will compete for a spot on this year's National Team, which will travel to the World Championships in Melbourne, Australia in November.

Nakamori rebounded from a 7.2 on the pommel in his first routine, scoring a 51.275 in the all-around to earn a bid to the USA Championships.

"Sho struggled on the first event, but he made up a lot of ground," noted Stanford head coach Thom Glielmi. "He really stepped up and nailed his next five routines. We're really proud of him."
