Milwaukee, Wisc. - Stanford men's gymnasts
Dave Durante and
Dan Gill have been named to the 2003 Pan American Games Men's Gymnastics Team, which will be coached by Stanford head coach
Thom Glielmi. The 2003 Pan American Games are scheduled for August 1-17 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The U.S. men won the team silver medal in 1999, with Cuba taking the gold and Canada the bronze.
Durante, a 2003 Stanford graduate who finished his collegiate eligibility last season, finished ninth in the all-around competition at the recent U.S. Gymnastics Championships to just miss qualifying for the World Championships Team by .025 points. Gill, who was a junior for the Cardinal in 2002-03, finished 11th in the all-around competition to become the only current NCAA men's gymnastics student-athlete to make the U.S. Senior National squad.
Durante and Gill were also both selected to the 14-member U.S. National Team for the remainder of 2003.
