Stanford Men's Gymnastics Earns 11 All-American Honors



Thom Glielmi was named NCAA West Region Coach of the Year.

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford Men's Gymnastics claimed 11 All-American honors after finishing third last weekend at the NCAA Championship, the most ever for the program. Sophomore David Sender and junior Dylan Carney were crowned national champions on the vault and high bar, respectively. Head coach Thom Glielmi was named the NCAA West Region Coach of the Year, while assistant coach JD Reive was named Assistant Coach of the Year.

Sender earned four All-American honors for his performances on the vault (1st, 9.562), still rings (5th, 9.412), parallel bars (6th, 8.875) and all-around (5th, 54.125). Sophomore Sho Nakamori earned All-American status on the floor exercise (2nd, 9.500) and all-around (53.300), while Dylan Carney claimed two honors from the high bar (T1st, 9.700) and vault (6th, 9.375). Senior Nate Downs earned All-American honors for his performance on the high bar (7th, 9.350), junior Alex Schorsch was honored for the still rings (2nd, 9.575) and junior Peter Derman was named All-American for the still rings (3rd, 9.512).

"Stanford has definitely made an impression with the judges and other teams," said Glielmi. "We have 12 gymnasts returning next year, including six of the seven guys that made it to finals. We will be back."
