Dixon Named MPSF Gymnast of the Week As Stanford Reclaims No. 1 Ranking

Stanford, Calif. - Stanford senior Josh Dixon was named MPSF Gymnast of the Week after winning the all-around in both meets over the weekend. Dixon also led the Cardinal two a pair of meet titles as the Cardinal have reclaimed the No. 1 ranking in the nation.

Dixon combined for five individual titles over two meets last week, taking two all-arounds (87.4, 88.6), two floors (15.6, 15.5) and a vault (15.9), as the Cardinal won a quad at Illinois-Chicago and a dual at Nebraska. The 88.6 all-around in Lincoln was the nation's sixth highest total in 2011, while he also chipped in a third place vault (15.8).

Stanford improved its three-meet average to 360.400, which is how the national rankings are tabulated. Stanford moved ahead of Oklahoma in the rankings as the Sooners average is at 359.933.

Stanford will now have the weekend off with its next meet at California on March 25. The meet will be the final home meet in program history for the Golden Bears.
