Stanford, Calif. - Stanford's Tim Gentry has been named MPSF Gymnast of the Week after leading Stanford to a dual-meet victory over Michigan. Gentry and the Cardinal defeated the team that won the NCAA title last year, just edging out Stanford.

The win over Michigan raised Stanford's national ranking to No. 2, trailing only top-ranked Oklahoma.

Gentry had the day's top score on rings (15.550) and tied with teammate Josh Dixon for the top score on vault (15.950). Gentry is now currently ranked No. 3 in the nation on rings and No. 4 on vault.

Gentry also contributed on parallel bars (13.700) and horizontal bar (14.100) as Stanford had the higher score in five of six events.

The Cardinal will continue with dual meets out on the road this weekend when it faces Illinois-Chicago and Illinois on Friday, March 4 and Nebraska on Sunday, March 6.
