STANFORD, Calif. -
Stanford men's gymnast Eddie Penev was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week for the week of Feb. 12-19, as announced by the conference Tuesday.
The awards continue to pile up for Penev in his senior campaign. A week after earning a spot on the U.S. Senior National Team, Penev claimed his fourth MPSF honor of the season after leading fourth-ranked Stanford to a 435.350-426.450 victory over No. 10 California.
Penev claimed the individual title in floor exercise, tying his season-best 15.650, en route to a season-high all-around score of 88.200. He earned a second-place finish on vault with a season-best 15.300.
Penev had strong routines on parallel bars (14.550) and high bar (14.500), finishing third in both events, and notched a season-best on rings with a 14.450.
Penev will look to continue his momentum when Stanford plays host to Cal for the second consecutive week on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. (PT) in Burnham Pavilion.
