David Sender Named NCAA Gymnast Of The Week For Efforts At Winter Cup Challenge
Feb. 16, 2007 Stanford junior David Sender has been named the NCAA Gymnast of the Week for his efforts at the 2007 Winter Cup Challenge (February 8-10). Sender, a co-captain of the Cardinal team, and a 2006 World Championship team member, had an impressive performance in the opening round, leading the pack of 82 gymnasts with 135 points, winning both vault with a score of 16.5 and all-around with a score of 89.45. Sender also placed third on the horizontal bar with a 15.25 and seventh on the parallel bars with a 14.85. In the final round of competition, Sender took second place in the all-around competition. He posted a combined two-day score of 176.950, while earning first place on vault with a 32.80 and tying for sixth on the still rings with a 29.70. The Cardinal team will be in action tonight (February 16) at 7:00pm as they face off against Cal in the annual "Big Flip Off."
