STANFORD, Calif. -
Stanford senior Eddie Penev was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week for the third time this season, the conference announced Tuesday.
Penev was named to the U.S. Gymnastics Senior National Team after finishing fourth at the Winter Cup Challenge in Las Vegas. He finished with a combined score of 169.150 in the all-around and claimed the vault title with a combined 30.300. He also had strong routines on floor (14.600), rings (14.100) and parallel bars (14.000).
Penev is now a member of the U.S. Senior National Team through August 2013, when the team competes in the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Hartford, CT.
He will return to Stanford to complete his senior season and be back in action when the men’s gymnastics team hosts tenth-ranked California this Sunday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m.in Maples Pavilion.
