Stanford senior Eddie Penev and was named to the U.S. Men's Gymnastics Senior National Team Saturday night after finishing fourth at the Winter Cup Challenge.
Penev finished the tournament with a combined all-around score of 169.150 and claimed the vault title with a combined score of 30.300. He also had strong routines on floor (14.600), rings (14.100), and parallel bars (14.000).
Penev is now a member of the U.S. Senior National Team through August 2013 when the team competes in the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Hartford, Conn.
He will return to Stanford to complete his senior season and will be back in action when the Cardinal takes on California in the Big Flip Off at Maples Pavilion on Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. (PT).
