Men's Gymnastics Competes at the 2003 Winter Cup

Las Vegas, Nevada - Stanford men's gymnastics competed at the USA Gymnastics Winter Cup. The annual event is the opening competition for the men's National Team. Friday night's action included the All-Around Competition as well as the Individual Event Qualification.

Senior co-captain Marshall Erwin (Cincinnati, OH/Wyoming), the 2002 NCAA Champion on the rings, scored a 9.450 on the apparatus, the second best performance of the night.

Junior co-captain Dan Gill (Fairfax, VA/James Robinson) scored a 8.650 in the floor exercise, tying for 18th place. Gill also tallied a 7.250 in the high bar.

Senior Matt McLean (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) tied for 29th place with a 7.950 on the high bar.

Individual Event Finals will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Sat., Feb. 8. For complete results of the 2003 Winter Cup, please refer to the official site of USA Gymnastics at www.usa-gymnastics.org.

Stanford returns to dual competition on Fri., Feb. 14 when the Cardinal travels to Berkeley to face cross-bay rival California at 7:30 p.m.
