PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - The No. 18 Stanford men's golf team finished fourth at the Stanford Classic at Cypress Point, as the field finished the third round in two days at the renowned course. The Cardinal was defeated by Texas, 15 ½ to 8 ½ after splitting matches with Duke and Washington the day before.
Tuesday's format pitted the six-man teams in six individual match play pairings, with single points awarded for winning the front and back nines and two points given to the winner of 18 holes. Cameron Wilson led the Cardinal, winning all four available points in his match against Julio Vegas. David Boote also played well, winning three points against the Longhorns Kramer Kickok.
Shane Lebow claimed one point in his matchup with Toni Hakula, and Patrick Rodgers half a point against Jordan Spieth. Steve Kearney and Dominick Francks were unable to win any points against Cody Gribble and Johnathan Schnitzer, respectively.
UCLA emerged victorious after defeating Duke in the championship match.
Stanford will wrap up its fall schedule at the Gifford Intercollegiate at CordeValle, November 5-7.
