Sept. 24, 2007
Stanford, Calif. -
Senior Rob Grube was the unanimous choice of his teammates last week, when the 2007-08 Stanford men's golf team selected its captain. Grube, a three-time All-American, will lead the Cardinal in its defense of the 2007 NCAA title this season.
A Hinsdale, Ill. native, Grube is the only senior on the Cardinal roster this season and one of three golfers returning from the fivesome that won last year's NCAA Championship. As a junior last year, he won two tournaments, finished third nationally and nabbed his third All-America honor. In 2007-08, Grube will be looking to become just the second four-time All-American in program history (the other was Joel Kribel).
"Rob Grube will be a leader on and off the course," noted Head Coach Conrad Ray. "He will be a great resource for the younger guys as we work towards Stanford Golf's ninth National Championship."
The Cardinal returns to action on Sunday at the Fighting Illini Invitational in Chicago, Ill.
